Jason Collins was the first NBA player to come out as openly gay. After this event, he could not find another team to accept him. Finally his day has came! He signed a "10-day contract with the Brooklyn Nets and, playing for 12 minutes and pulling down a couple of rebounds, helped them to a win against the Los Angeles Lakers."
This event applies to a book I read for my 10th grade English project. I read a book about people being gay and what they had to go through. I read the book,Am I blue? Coming out from the Silence. The book talks about people finding out if they are homosexual and the struggles they went through. Most of the people in the book was teenagers. It was a few stories all in one.
This makes me very upset. People should not be kicked out of the NBA or any sport because of their sexuality. This affects me, because I have family and friends, and I, myself am a homosexual. Bulling is wrong period. Especially because of their sexuality, race, age, gender. All of it is wrong and it should not happen, period!
What is the central idea of the passage and how is it developed and refined throughout the selection? Use evidence from the selection to support your answer.
-The central idea of this passage to try to show the world that being openly gay is okay. The Brooklyn Nets gave him a chance and he helped them win against a very big basketball team. Just people you decided to tell people things about your life, you shouldn't be judged and bullied because of it.
